Winter Skincare Routine – 2015

Posted on December 5, 2015

Winter is finally here and so are dry, patchy skin and chapped lips. I have sensitive and acne prone skin which bothers me all year round but winter is the worst. The more makeup I put on, the more I feel  like broadcasting my imperfections. Hiding is not a good solution for anything as always. Recently I tried some new products and luckily they didn’t break me out. Even better, I think I might find a good combination to keep my skin healthy and radiant.

Here are most of the products that I use (there are a few pieces I forgot to include in the photo, like TATCHA polished classic rice enzyme powder, Kiehl’s midnight recovery concentrate, DHC olive soap, and a lot of masks…) Apologies for the poor quality of the photos:

Basic Routine   Extra Care

Morning Routine:

In the morning I clean my face use either DHC olive soap or First Aid Beauty face cleanser. After that, I pat dry my face and put on Kiehl’s avocado eye cream. I especially love how creamy this eye cream is. At first it can feel a little bit too heavy but after being gently patted on, it gets absorbed into the skin really quickly without leaving any greasiness behind. Once the eye cream is done, I pour some the Origins Mega Mushroom relief lotion in my palm, put it on my entire face, pat a bit to help absorption and top that with my recent favorite – fresh black tea age delay cream. Ah, can’t forget a thick coat of chap stick.

Night Routine:

After a tiring day, the first step of my night skincare routine is to take off my makeup. Bioderma H2O Miscelle Solution with cotton pads works miracles. I use boscia makeup-breakup cool cleansing oil if I am traveling. Both of them break down my waterproof makeup completely without any fuss. Use the same stuff for morning routine to wash my face. I am the type of person who has to wash my face again after removing my makeup, no matter what the makeup remover bottle says. Instead of the avocado eye cream, I use another Kiehl’s eye product at night – Kiehl’s midnight recovery eye concentrate. This concentrate expands really well. Therefore, only a tap of the product should get both eyes covered. Afterwards, the routine can get quite random. If I feel lazy, I will do the same thing as the morning routine or switch my mega mushroom lotion with SKII essence. If I am feeling like pampering, I will do a fresh black tea instant perfecting mask before the lotion and the cream. If my skin feels dry or I think it needs some extra moisturizing, I will put on Laneige water bank sleeping mask. If my skin looks dull for some reason, I will switch my cream to Korres wild rose advanced brightening sleeping facial even through it has quite a strong scent which I do not like very much. If my acne is trying to give me a hard time, I will put some the Body Shop tea tree lotion on cotton pads to make myself a mask. Remember to shake the bottle before usage! Last but not the least, pore minimizing. Arcona gentle solution repair [PM] is the wonder worker for this. Put this on before bed and I can barely see my pores the next morning. Besides all the products mentioned above, I use some other masks, exfoliate, face wash from time to time but I don’t use them regular enough to put everything here.

That is all for my winter skincare routine and hope it helps. Happy winter!snowflake
